Sprinkler maintenance plans for start-up, summer performance and winter protection

Hunter HydroTech maintenance plans organize the most important seasonal visits for Michigan irrigation systems: careful spring activation, an optional mid-season checkup, and fall winterization before freezing weather. Choose a plan for a city-water or pump-fed sprinkler system and keep the service schedule in one place.

Why seasonal planning matters

Three points in the Michigan irrigation season deserve special attention

A sprinkler system can appear fine at the controller while a valve leaks, a head is damaged, a zone has weak pressure, or a pump is losing prime. Spring activation is the first opportunity to observe every available zone after winter. A mid-season review can catch coverage and performance changes while the landscape is actively growing. Winterization removes water from irrigation components before freezing temperatures can split pipe, fittings, valves, backflows or exposed pump equipment.

A maintenance plan does not guarantee that an older system will never need repairs. It creates a predictable seasonal service schedule and helps identify problems before they become larger water-loss, landscape or freeze-damage issues.

What the visits focus on

Seasonal service built around how the irrigation system actually operates

01

Spring activation

Turn on and pressurize the system carefully, operate available zones, review visible leaks or damaged parts, adjust accessible heads and check controller programming.

02

Mid-season checkup

Review zone performance during active use, look for coverage changes, visible leaks, damaged heads, controller schedule issues and repair needs that developed after start-up.

03

Fall winterization

Shut down and blow out the irrigation system using an appropriate service process, with attention to exposed backflow or pump components and the system’s water source.

City-water systems

Backflow-fed sprinkler maintenance

City-water systems normally include an irrigation shutoff, backflow or RPZ assembly, mainline, controller, field wiring, valves and sprinkler zones. Seasonal work must consider safe pressurization, visible backflow condition, valve operation, zone performance and protection of water-filled components before winter.

Pump-fed systems

Pump, intake and pressure considerations

A pump-fed system may add an intake, screen, foot valve, suction pipe, check valve, pump relay, filtration and priming steps. Those components can change start-up time, diagnosis and winterization, which is why pump-fed plans are priced separately from standard city-water systems.

Frequently asked questions

Sprinkler maintenance plan questions

What is included in a Hunter HydroTech sprinkler maintenance plan?

Every listed plan includes a spring sprinkler start-up and fall winterization. Silver and Gold also include a mid-season irrigation checkup. Eligible labor and material discounts depend on the selected plan and apply during the membership term.

Why do pump-fed sprinkler systems have different plan prices?

Pump-fed systems normally require additional seasonal steps around the pump, relay, suction side, intake, filtration, priming, pressure, and winter protection. Exact system access and condition are confirmed before service.

Are sprinkler repairs included in the membership price?

The plan includes the seasonal visits listed for that tier. Repair parts and repair labor are separate unless specifically stated in your written plan. Silver and Gold include their listed discount on eligible labor and materials.

Where are sprinkler maintenance plans available?

Hunter HydroTech serves customers across Macomb County, Oakland County, St. Clair County, Wayne County, and surrounding Southeast Michigan communities, subject to route availability and the property location.

How is online card payment handled?

Card checkout is hosted by Stripe. Hunter HydroTech does not receive or store the card number entered on the Stripe checkout page. Membership activation is confirmed only after Stripe reports a successful payment.
