Sprinkler Repair for Larger Macomb Township Irrigation Systems

Real Macomb Field Example: A Zone That Would Not Fire

That process is important because a dead zone can come from the controller, common wire, station wire, splice, solenoid, valve, pressure, pipe, or—on pump-fed properties—the source and pump equipment.
City-Water and Pump-Fed Irrigation Need Different Diagnostic Paths
On city water, diagnosis may include the irrigation shutoff, backflow or RPZ/PVB assembly, mainline, valves, wiring, controller, piping, and sprinkler demand. A restriction or leak before the zone valve can affect more than one zone.
On a pump-fed system, the water path starts farther upstream: source, intake, suction line, filter, check or foot valve, prime, pump-start relay, pump, discharge plumbing, mainline, valves, and finally the operating zone. A pump that sounds like it is running does not prove the sprinkler zone is receiving the pressure and flow it needs.

Low Pressure on Rotor Zones: Flow Demand Adds Up
Large rotor zones should be evaluated under operating load. A common Hunter PGP Ultra 3.0 nozzle is roughly around 3 gallons per minute under suitable conditions. That means six similar rotors can represent roughly 18 GPM of zone demand before accounting for pressure loss, valve restriction, pipe friction, elevation, or a pump that is not producing its expected output.
Changing to a larger nozzle can make a hydraulic problem worse. We look at working pressure, the number and type of heads, nozzle sizes, valve condition, pipe layout, leaks, and the water source before changing the demand of the zone.
Rotor, Spray and Swing-Connection Repair
Hunter HydroTech commonly uses Hunter PGP Ultra rotors for open lawn areas and Rain Bird 1800-series spray bodies for smaller turf and landscape applications. We avoid treating head replacement as a simple swap when the connection or grade is also wrong.
A typical rotor connection may use a flexible swing assembly so the head can be set straight and at finished grade while giving the connection some protection from settling and impact. After opening a lateral for repair, we flush debris before final nozzle installation, adjust the head, and run the zone again to check for leaks, rotation, retraction, and head-to-head coverage.

Valve, Manifold and Irrigation Wire Troubleshooting
