Utility Construction Damaged Irrigation Wiring, Piping and a Five-Valve Box Across a Sterling Heights Side Yard

Utility construction can damage an irrigation system in several ways at once. At a Sterling Heights property, a local fiber-installation project affected the entire side yard where a sprinkler valve box and irrigation infrastructure were located.

The damage included irrigation wiring, sprinkler piping, and the valve-box area itself. The valve box had also been hit with a plow. Hunter HydroTech rebuilt the five-valve box from scratch and reconstructed the damaged parts of the affected sprinkler system.

A trencher ran through the side yard

The fiber project used trenching equipment through the same side-yard corridor that contained irrigation lines, valve wiring, and the valve box. The five-valve box was rebuilt from scratch

A full valve-box rebuild allowed Hunter HydroTech to re-establish dependable valve connections, accessible valve spacing, clean zone-line routing, serviceable wire splices, and a valve-box arrangement that can be serviced again in the future.

Damaged irrigation wiring and splices were replaced

Trenchers can slice station wires, common wires, and underground splices. Hunter HydroTech replaced damaged wiring and rebuilt the necessary splices, then verified valve circuits from the controller.

Piping damage had to be reconstructed

The fiber work also damaged irrigation piping through the affected side yard. The repair restored the damaged lines and returned the affected zones to a functional layout.

Seven new 4-inch spray heads

The restoration also included seven new 4-inch spray heads. After installation, the heads were aligned and adjusted to the restored landscape.

When one construction path crosses several irrigation zones, repairing the first visible leak does not prove the rest of the system is intact.
